"Happy Halloween Cookies," acrylic on panel, 12" x 16". Unframed, flat 1/8-inch panel. Based on a real-life pile of sugar cookies that I baked and decorated.
When I was a kid, trick-or-treating in the small town where I grew up, there was an elderly woman at the top of our hill. Every year, instead of giving out candy, she would set up a cookie decorating table on her front porch. All of the trick-or-treaters could go up and make their own beautifully decorated Halloween cookies. It was something I always looked forward to.
This year, I decided to bake and decorate my own Happy Halloween cookies and make a painting of them. This piece is in honor or her and all of the other people who make Happy Halloween memories for others. It means more than you know.
