Toasted Marshmallows Study -- A 4-Hour Twitch Live Painting Study

"Toasted Marshmallows Study," 4" x 4", acrylic on panel, is a 4-hour food painting study completed on one of my Twitch Live Painting Streams. Unframed. I spent a late evening toasting various marshmallows on sticks to create a reference image, then attempted to do a quick form and color study while live streaming the process. Although I've never painted toasted marshmallows before, I think I was able to capture the toastiness and caramelization, as well as some of the weight of the toasted marshmallows, despite the time constraint. I opted to give it a bit of a trompe l'oeil-ish effect, where the marshmallows and stick included the illusion of cast shadows on the panel surface. Overall, I think it's a fun little piece that was surprisingly gratifying to paint!
